Pricey Playing in Traffic

Pricey: Playing in Traffic

Human Trafficking is the illegal movement of people, generally for the purpose of sexual exploitation or forced labor.

Meet Billie Blue Blondie, a fair-skinned Haitian girl with stark blue eyes. Her world is rocked one day after meeting a couple of Americans who promised both her and her mother the golden brick road.

Carmine Pallazolo the dark sheep, young boy whom is shipped to live with his aunt so that his mother’s lover would continue to support him.  Even the protector needs protection at some time in their lives.

Pricey is the story of Billie and Carmine, how they came to be the people they are.  They weren’t born this way they were made and transformed into what they are.  This isn’t a fairytale of love and coming to light this is a gruesome story of what happens when your soul and heart are ripped out at a young age.  I’ve read several books by this author and she has never ceased to amaze me with her characters.  You will either love them or hate them, want to hug them yourself or kill them with your bare hands.  Billie and Carmine’s story tugs and your heart strings and makes your skin crawl at the same time.

I received this exclusive copy of Pricey before it hits the air.  The in-depth interview with the author gives further detail into her life and the characters she creates.  Also this book contains an exclusive excerpt of an upcoming release that is sure to have you on the edge of your seat, or bed.  This one is laced with comedy, doused in seduction and sure to intrigue you.  Pricey is definitely RED ZONE certified read.

Tainted Too

Tainted Too

Mental Illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions.  Disorders that affect you mood, behavior, and thinking.  Types of mental illness include anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, and addictive behaviors

Tainted Too is the follow up to Tainted.  In this book we are reintroduced to the Deitrich sisters, Monica and Jasmine.  Monica the former DEA agent, is now psychological profiler for the FBI.  Jasmine, is now released from the institution she resided in since her horrific ordeal with the drug dealers who ravaged her young body and stole her innocence.  Both these women have progressed farther in life now, and all is well so it seems until Jasmine meets the love of her life.  Jasmine meets someone who not only sees her for what she really is but he also brings out the beast that lies within.  It doesn’t stop there however, a deadly conversation tears the sisters apart and ignites the fury within both.  When the loves of both their lives enters all hell will break loose.  Who will remain standing and who will fall?  This is the third book I have read by this novelist and I must say it just keeps getting better.  During this page turning novel I could only wipe the drool from my hanging mouth as the twists and turns thicken.  The plot, story structure and vividness of his technique pulled me in and didn’t let go.
I highly recommend this for the not so faint at heart.  This is a REDZONE certified read!

Natoya says,

Prettyboy Thugs-4 stars---

Pretty boy Don Juan has just been released from doing a bid. Fresh out the gates he hooks up with his old friend Lex. Don Juan is trying to figure out how he will get back on top. Before going in he was the man. An unfortunate situation sent him away for 6 years.
Don Juan knew how to get his money one way. When he's released his friend Lex hips him to a new game. Don Juan just knew he was on the come up fast. The only problem with this is someone wants Don Juan to suffer. They don't want a happily ever after for Don Juan. Now Don Juan is in someone's cross-hairs. He will do whatever he can to protect his daughter. The only problem is finding out who is playing who.
I enjoyed reading the story. They mystery of the story kicks off about 50% in. At this time its you trying to find out who is really playing who. Then its why. There were a few errors in the book. Nothing major and it didn't take away from the story. I think the way it ended was rather abruptly. It made me question how Don Juan found out. Also, I was left wondering about Lex at the end. Overall, it was pretty good

Corporate Amerikkka by Blacc Topp

Corporate Amerikkka by Blacc Topp

When the street and intellect meet.  This book follows Tristen Graham, a young man who defies the odds stacked against him who not only excels at M.I.T, but graduates the top of his class.  Tristen is then offered the opportunity of a lifetime at one of Texas’s prestigious software firms.  Toby, his best friend and cousin, is his exact opposite.  Toby personified the hard knock life, after his parent was killed he comes to live with Tristen and his family.  Although raised under the same roof, they have totally different outlooks on life.   This storyline, plunges into the darker side of corporate life and glass ceilings.  From the beginning to the end, this book kept me intrigued even the appearances of former characters, moved the plot along seamlessly.  Corporate Amerikkka is fictionalized truth.  This book touches on family, relationships with a twist, and the still prevalent fact that racism still exist in America.  No matter how smart you are some will only see your skin.  Corporate Amerikkka is destined to be classic literature.

Convince me to live by Niles Manning

Convince me to live by Niles Manning

Would you take your own life to save the life of someone you loved?

A fast paced, heart racing adrenaline rush.  This was my first read by this author, and I must admit it was very good.  Janelle is a college student, who after years of coping with her father’s death, finds out his accident was no accident at all.  While trying to retain extra credit for her slipping grades, she volunteers for a suicide hotline.  Det. Grainger finds himself once again, in a no win situation.  After a botched investigation, and subsequent suspension he’s out to prove that there is a killer on the loose.  Will Det. Grainger save his career and solve the case?   The story line and plot moved along effortlessly and kept me turning pages.  The author found his stride and held it.  There were some minor errors, however nothing to throw the reader off.  This young publishing company is standing up to their tag line.  Writing outside the box.  I look forward to reading more of their work.

Can this Love sustain the ride?

Niya 2: Dreamer’s Paradise

Love: - A decision to put the needs of another before your own.
Friendship: - An enjoyable bond with another with some common interest(s).
Infatuation: - Temporary chemical reaction to another.

In this second book of the Dreamer’s series, Niya and Jamilla pick back up where they left off in part one.  Both Niya and Jamilla are still living in their tortured existence.

Niya feels an insatiable love for Jamilla but believes the love is unrequited.  Niya is an explosion of emotions, when she loves, she gives you 100% of her heart.  Of all the girls she loved, for her Jamilla is the ONE…maybe.  Niya has a tendency to love those as damaged as she is, with the exception of Roxie in book one.  Smiley, Marlo, Jamilla and even Brazil are all broken women seeking an escape from the torment of their lives.  And Niya has the propensity to save them, which in doing so she hopes to save herself as well.   In this book Niya’s volatile emotions explode on the page, scene after scene.  In the beginning chapters, we get a glimpse of her relationship with her mother.  It gives more insight to whom she is because of where she’s come from.  Niya has the strength of her Grandmother to triumph through adversity, but she must be willing to accept the changes to come.

Jamilla, remains confused and unsure about her true feelings for Niya.  Coming from an environment where the duality of love and hate are blurred nearly beyond repair, Jamilla doesn’t realize the mixed message she has been sending Niya throughout their friendship.  During the course of this book, Jamilla becomes closer to Niya mentally, physically and almost intimately.  During many moments in a chemically induced state, Jamilla and Niya share intimacies that borderline the affections given to your significant other.  Yet when put in everyday normal occurrences Jamilla reminds Niya she is not gay.  Their confused relationship/friendship causes a strain and sends both of them into the arms of another.

In this segment, the author takes us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.  Her words through the experiences of Niya and Jamilla causes you to look at your relationships and love in the purest form.  Dreamer’s Paradise is a well-crafted saga that explores the journey to love and how circumstances and experiences can unite two people in that journey together.  Will Niya and Jamilla find their Happily Ever After?  Or will Niya realize that having unconditional love in her friendship with Jamilla is more important than the intimacy she longs to share.
This is definitely a 5-star read and one I am more than happy to share with others.

Tainted by Blacc Topp review

Synopsis:
Monica cursed under her breath; she didn't like the fact that King had a hold on her body the way that he did. Their bodies had fit together as if they were made for each other. ...she had allowed herself to fall in love with a serial killer, a man with obvious mental problems, and if she didn’t end the case soon, one of them would surely meet their demise at the hands of the other.

Driven by the need to right the rape of her nine-year-old sister at the hands of drug lords, Monica Deitrich for a decade trained to work in law enforcement. Hired by the DEA, she receives her first assignment: Infiltrate and bring down King Kochese, a ruthless killer who controls the Texas drug trade. She soon finds her job is not so simple. Never mind the danger of working undercover – the simple fact is that King Kochese is a virile, complicated man who she quickly falls for.

Review:
For the most part, it has been quite a while since I have read well written, urban book by an indie author.  This is one of them.  Tainted starts off with the main character, thirteen year old Monica Deitrich.  Monica grows up with drug addicted parents and her little sister Jazzy.  While away on a church retreat, Monica receives devastating news that alters the course of her young life.  This book quickly progresses, Monica now an adult graduates and joins the DEA.  Her first case fresh out of the box is an undercover agent tasked to bring down Dallas' most notorious dealer King Kochese.  Monica plays her role so superbly that she doesn't even realize she's fallen for King.  King Kochese: born of an addict himself, Kochese sets out to become somebody in a world of nobodies and druggies.  At a young age as well, Kochese runs away from home and is taken in under the wings of Michael Ross, one of Dallas' large criminal.  This book contained many plot twist and turns, that kept me on the edge of my seat.  The story flowed seamlessly as the plot progressed.  Not only was this book untypical of the average urban book, the elements of surprise betrayals, loyalty, hope and dysfunctional crazy characters  kept me turning pages to see what would happen next.  This was my first read from this author but it most certainly won't be the last.  I highly recommend this FIVE star novel.
